OWLS

After Owls runs every school day from 3:05 - 4:30 PM, serving students in Kindergarten through Grade 6. Led by talented coaches, charismatic actors, brilliant artists, dancers, and supportive Friends teachers, these engaging workshops foster friendships beyond the students’ homeroom classmates. A snack is provided daily, directly after school.

Makers and Movers is an all-in-one after-school experience that blends creativity, activity, and connection. Each session begins with a group check-in and a fun community-building activity, followed by student choice at hands-on stations featuring crafts, building challenges, art projects, and more. Throughout the week, students enjoy a variety of special enrichment experiences, including guest-led activities and exciting projects. With Coach Luis leading the group regularly, students can also look forward to active play and sport-inspired games that build teamwork, confidence, and coordination. Makers and Movers is the perfect place to create, explore, move, and make new friends after school.

Homework Club

Homework Club offers the perfect balance of focus and fun. Students can jump-start and complete homework assignments, enjoy independent reading, and build strong academic habits in a supportive environment with guidance from a teacher. Beyond the academic focus time, students will have the opportunity for a movement break outside of the Homework Club classroom to allow them to unwind from their school day alongside this group of peers.

Middle School Study Hall

This high-energy, fundamentals-focused class helps young athletes build skills, confidence, and teamwork while having a blast on the court. Weird Science TV with CinemaKidz

Put on your lab coats and secure your goggles- it's time for some whacky science with CinemaKidz! From mixing magic potions and making slime monsters come to life with stop motion, to cave diving for georocks, dissecting frogs, or building bottle rockets - anything is possible in Weird Science Television! Working together in lab teams, kids will learn, then demonstrate and show others how to make mind-blowing experiments and more for their kid-run science show. From making a how-to video on chemical reactions or a creative narrative skit, to competing in a mini boat building competition - each video project revolves around a new science skill as well as a filmic & storytelling strategy. Using their science skills, these creative kids will create their own Bill Nye-inspired TV show!

Jazz/Tap Combo with Four Corners Creative

Learn the fundamentals of Jazz and Tap in this new class offered with Four Corners Creative! Shine your own unique light through movement and dance. Tap allows students to focus on weight transfers, musicality, balance, and rhythm. Additionally Isolations, stretching, and across the floor exercises will be an important part of Jazz. Students will have a small presentation of their grown ups at the end of the trimester.

Intermediate and Advanced Chess with Togetherhood

This class is designed for students who already know how each piece moves and have a basic understanding of checks and checkmates. Players will sharpen their skills through strategy-focused lessons, tactical challenges, and tournament-style play. Lessons will cover chess notation, piece value, openings, special moves, common tactics like pins and forks, and both middlegame and endgame strategies. Let’s level up your game and aim for checkmate!

Cooking with Milena

Chef Milena returns to share the joy of cooking through hands-on culinary adventures! Each week, students will create a delicious recipe while learning essential kitchen skills such as chopping, sautéing, and baking. Make a Musical: Shrek & Friends with Child's Play NY

Join a crew of fairy tale friends as we adventure through the kingdom of Far Far Away with Shrek the heroic ogre. We'll fly with dragons, dance with Donkey and laugh with Puss in Boots! The original story by celebrated children's author William Steig catapults our adventures while songs from the Broadway show and film underscore our games. Led by professionally-trained actors, kids flex their imaginative muscles and learn the basics of vocal warm-ups, character development, singing and choreography. Class culminates in a showcase for families!

Robot Builders with Brooklyn Robot Foundry

Join Brooklyn Robot Foundry for their signature Robot Builders classes, where creativity and engineering meet. Students dive into a new, hands-on robot project each week featuring lights, movement, sounds, and more. Through short, engaging lessons, they’ll explore circuits, components, and engineering basics, then customize their creations to make each unique. Learning becomes a blast as imaginations soar, and students leave every session brimming with pride, with their amazing robot inventions in hand! Students will get to build a new robot every class, every semester. We have over 600 projects in our curriculum - that means students can take our courses for 8 years straight without repeating a project! Brooklyn Robot Foundry has been offering creative STEAM programs for children and adults since 2011. Their signature classes combine the best aspects of art, engineering, and design into a super fun, hands-on building and learning experience.

Join Coach Warren of the Friends varsity soccer team for a fun, high-energy soccer class that builds skills, confidence, and teamwork. Architecture and Engineering with Launch

Let’s build it up and break it down! Join us as our students explore various aspects
of architecture and civil engineering while dissecting the life cycle of famous buildings. Upon deciding the function of their structure, our aspiring architects and engineers step through structural milestones ranging from design and scale model development to construction, operation, and ultimately demolition. Along the way kids learn the scientific principles behind various topics including the geometry of supporting structures, types of construction materials, and elevator physics and functionality. Hands-on projects include construction machinery such as miniature hydraulic lifts and models of civil engineering wonders like truss bridges. The class wraps up with students testing the physical limits of their supporting structures – and then lining them up for the wrecking ball!

Dazzling Designers with Four Corners Creative

Fashion is an important form of self-expression and creativity for children, even early on. This class will focus on learning about textiles, styles, patterns, basic design skills, and hand sewing. We will work on crafts together throughout the course and begin to develop our sense of style and confidence. We will present what we have been working on at the end of the semester with a "fashion show" for our parents and caregivers.

Capoeira with Afro Brazil Arts

Kick, spin, cartwheel, and make music with Afro Brazil Arts as we practice Capoeira! Capoeira is a Brazilian martial art/dance form that combines fun movements with music. Students will engage in kicks and dodges, as well as how to play Capoeira instruments and sing Capoeira songs in Portuguese. In addition to physical skills, students learn about Brazilian culture in this dynamic class.

Blading with Matt

Rollerblading is one of the safest sports around and a proven thorough workout. Children can join the blading craze by learning the moves from an inline pro! Basic skating instruction will include striding, turning, stopping, crossovers, and more. Group games ensue with exhilarating cheers echoing through the gym.

Potent Potions + Fizzing Formulas with Launch

Double, double, toil and trouble; fire burn, and cauldron bubble! Launch’s junior scientists explore the magic of the molecular world of chemistry in this exciting class that’s full of actions and reactions! Mystifying topics such as phosphorescence, oxidation, and chromatography are unmasked as we reveal the science through projects such as potion vials, magic wands, and foamy explosions. Kids are mesmerized by the colorful fizzing formulas that make up the world around us, forcing them to ask the question: is it magic, or is it science?

Open Studio with Morgan

Shark Tank Entrepreneurs with CinemaKidz

In this high energy "Shark Tank" inspired media and leadership course, students transform from dreamers into digital entrepreneurs. This project-based course challenges students to invent a business they care about and bring it to life by exploring and learning to create a comprehensive suite of media assets, including: a company logo & graphic design elements, professional website building, video production for commercials and marketing videos to put on their site, and product photography to bring their website to life. As participants develop their brand and learn the basics of business creation, students master tools like Google Slides to build their story, and pitch their company. The course culminates in a pitch presentation to a panel of "investors," leaving every student with a professional digital portfolio that showcases their innovation, technical skills, and entrepreneurial spirit.

I Wanna Be.. a Detective! with Launch

Calling all mini-sleuths! Pull out your oversized magnifying glasses and join us as we solve some epic mysteries! In this class kids explore how science is the key to great detective work! Using a combination of the principles of physics, chemistry, and biology, students employ critical thinking techniques to help them crack new cases every day. In search of the thief? Build yourself a secret suspect trap! Need to spy on those behind you? Break out your rearview mirror eyeglasses! Curiosity and logic lead the way as we collect evidence, investigate, and problem solve – all in the name of science. Sherlock Holmes would be proud!

Beauty and the Beast Song and Dance with DramaZone

Taught by the pros at the DramaZone®, come join our class and be part of the tale that is old as time. Dancing tea pots and magical candlesticks will kick up their heels in a revue for friends and family. Children will learn singing, dancing and enjoy theater games and dance games making this a well rounded class. Singing teaches rhythm and counting, theater games teaches diction and promotes confidence, dancing teaches strength and flexibility. Beginners through advanced students are welcome. Improv with Child's Play

Yes...And! In this dynamic improv class, students learn the tools to think on their feet, listen and respond with wit, and be creative in the moment. We start each class with warm-ups, shaking out inhibitions, and then we move into games that foster collaboration. Finally we work toward a fully realized (and funny!) final show - no script necessary! Kids get practice being spontaneous, collaborative and hilarious while making something they can be proud of. Improvisation is not only a great part of the actor’s toolbox, it is a powerful social skill that gets kids trusting their instincts, shifting perspective, and most importantly having fun!
